Finding It

M70 sits in the southern part of Sagittarius, transiting around 8–10 PM in summer. It lies roughly 2.5 degrees east of M69 along a line parallel to the base of the Sagittarius Teapot. Once M69 is found, M70 is a short hop eastward in the same low-power field.

Observing Tips

M70 is slightly smaller in apparent size than M69 due to its similar distance but higher concentration. The core-to-halo brightness gradient is the key visual feature.
